Electronic systems for smart agriculture, food chain and sustainable environments (ESSAFE)

Special Session Scope

The Euromicro Conference on Digital System Design (DSD) addresses all aspects of digital and mixed HW/SW system engineering for advanced embedded, high-performance and cyber-physical applications, covering the whole design trajectory from system specification down to micro-architectures, digital circuits and VLSI implementations. This special session aims at being the meeting place of scientists and industry stakeholders engaged in developing the edge electronic technologies for agriculture, food chain and sustainable environments. Smart electronic systems have been introduced in several primary economical sectors such as agriculture, fishing, farming, and food industry; there we can find sensors, controllers, networks, mobile devices, complex information systems. Similar systems can be used in wild as well as man-made environments for either scientific observations or sustainable management. As a common ground, all these electronic systems should be embedded, connected, low power and smart enough to interact with biological systems with non-deterministic behavior. This session addresses topics covered by research projects on blue and green economy as well as smart cities. They are also related to Internet of Things, energy-efficient embedded and cyber-physical systems, as well as artificial intelligence.

Papers on any of the following and related topics can be submitted to the special session:
  • precision agriculture: crop monitoring, control, transport and preservation
  • fishing, aquaculture: seafood monitoring, preparation, transport and preservation
  • precision farming
  • food production, preparation, monitoring, transport and preservation
  • monitoring of wild spaces such as natural parks
  • sustainable monitoring and control of man-made environments such as urban spaces
  • sensors, controllers, networks, mobile devices, complex information systems related to the above applications
  • supervision and control architecture for the mechanization of the above applications

Submission Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts via EasyChair web service at web page https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dsd2020. Should an unexpected web access problem be encountered, please contact the Program Chair by email Andrej.Zemva@fe.uni-lj.si. Each manuscript should include the complete paper text, all illustrations, and references. The manuscript should conform to the IEEE format: single-spaced, double column, US letter page size, 10-point size Times Roman font, up to 8 pages. In order to conduct a blind review, no indication of the authors' names should appear in the manuscript, references included.
