Motivation: Applications based cloud native applications (CNAs), are increasing their popularity in software development. CAN-based systems are rooted in the paradigm of utility computing: external provides offer compute power, storage, and network bandwidth for self-service customers. These systems allow new paradigms to develop systems, in particular due to the elasticity and resilience these systems can offer. Elastic systems try to match the used resources as closely as possible to the amount of resources needed to deliver the software-based service for a dedicated work and load situation. When architecting these systems, software architects need to take the new flexibility in the system’s deployment into account and design their system in a way that it uses its resources as optimal as possible.
Microservices fit into the paradigm of cloud-based systems. They use services which are as much self-contained as possible. The main benefits of these services are increased maintainability and elasticity. Each microservice is developed and operated by a single team of developers and operations people in a DevOps-based process. It communicates with other services as limited and decoupled as possible, for example, via asynchronous message busses. It often also contains its own data storage so that it can continue to operate without external data providers being accessible at the same time. Microservices still offer challenges like transactions spanning multiple microservices, designing microservices’ interfaces and communication channels, migrating legacy systems into microservice-based systems, etc.

The conference proceedings in the last years have been published by the IEEE Computer Society. The format is the IEEE two-column proceedings format (8 pages for full papers and 4 pages for short papers).
Submission Guidelines: SEAA 2020 encourages the submission of full research papers (maximum 8 pages), short papers and tool demo papers (maximum 4 pages), and posters. Papers must contain original unpublished work, describe significant novel contributions, and provide evidence on the validation of results. In particular, reports on industrial applications are welcome.

Conference Publishing Services (CPS) will publish accepted papers in the conference proceedings and the proceedings will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital library and indexing services. A special issue of a journal is planned to which extended version of best papers will be invited.
Please note that it is planned to select best papers among all tracks of SEAA and present them with an award. A selection of best papers will be invited to submit extended versions for tentative publication in a requested Special Issue of a Journal (under negotiation).
